Rumbalara Elders Facility

Rumbalara Elders Facility

Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-operative operates the Rumbalara Elders Facility, a 30-bed residential care home in North Shepparton. Designed by architectural firm Baldasso Cortese, this state-of-the-art nursing home was completed in 2012 and includes independent-living apartments, internal full-time care suites, and a dedicated palliative care unit.

Residents receive culturally appropriate care and are encouraged to take part in regular activities and outings in the Goulburn Valley region. Family and friends are always welcome for visits and to enjoy a meal in the cafe and dining area. We understand the reluctance of families, particularly in the Aboriginal community, to have someone else take care of Elders, the most respected people in the community hierarchy. Our staff and carers work hard to ensure each resident is accorded the respectful service they deserve as befits their Elder status.

Our internal and independent-living residents enjoy facilities such as the lounge, activities area, hairdressing salon, non-denominational prayer room, and medical centre with specialist services from visiting podiatrists, dieticians and physiotherapists. The dedicated palliative care unit at Rumbalara Elders Facility includes a separate lounge and meal facilities to accommodate extended family visits.

One of our most popular residents is Zoe, a gentle, retired racing greyhound who keeps company with residents and visitors alike. We also love our regular visits by the Rumbalara Bush Kindergarten and their carers.

The Elders Facility is located at 95 Ford Road, Shepparton. Call us on 03 5820 6200 to find out more, arrange a facility tour or talk to one of specialists about how we can help you or a family member.
